Project Facts

  • Blithedale Terrace does not require any planning or building code variances.
  • Blithedale Terrace has contributed $10,000 (20 x $500 maximum proposed) to the redevelopment of Freeman Park.
  • Twenty percent (four) of the Blithedale Terrace units will become part of the Marin Housing Authority’s affordable housing program.
  • Our proposal enhances Mill Valley’s small town character by providing those with limited incomes, who otherwise could not afford it, the opportunity to buy a new home here.
  • We will propose a program to the City of Mill Valley whereby city and school employees will be able to rent affordable (workforce) houses from the city.
  • Blithedale Terrace will reserve the initial sale of the market rate units for the children of current Mill Valley residents.
  • Our community’s preliminary score in the Green Point rating system is approximately 200 out of a possible 360. The basic score for this program is 50 points.
  • Blithedale Terrace qualifies as a transit oriented project due to its location at a four route bus stop, its adjacency to a major transit corridor, and its immediacy to a range of services, shopping, and community activities.
  • There are 6,250 dwelling units located in Mill valley, of which 1,700 are of compact design. The addition of 20 compact design homes will not affect (change) the small town character of the Town.
  • We will provide a public path through our project to access the property above, known as Kite Hill to some, if that property owner will allow public access.
  • The Mill Valley Fire Department will have the perpetual right to place signs on Blithedale Terrace property to advertise their pancake breakfast.
